I just found this article on chess.com. It has some decent advice on what to think about during the middle game. Much of it is common sense, but I thought it's a good summary worth reading.

yeah I can only agree. when you read this, you think "oh yeah of course I'm going to do that" but then actually applying some of these principles consistently OTB is a whole different story...

Ditto. It's a beast to apply theory to the heat of battle. No plan survives the enemy...
