I played round 4 against Tom a.k.a. Rhuiden tonight and had a good time except that well, I lost. Things were going well as we transitioned into the early middle game, when I managed to make one of those beautifully horrible moves that are too ridiculous to even really get upset about it. I could try to make excuses - I was tired, the sun was blinding me, my dog ate the keyboard. Truth is, I just didn't pay attention, and it's hard to win a chess game that way. Nicely done Tom.
Too tired for analysis...

Ouch! I hate when I do that.
Ouch! Caissa, I have sacrificed with the tactic books please please do not do that to me this week! :)
glenn & likesforests: Ouch indeed :) This is a continuing problem for me - in casual games (particularly online) I just tend to be sloppy. There is no reason for me to move that quickly, no reason why I can't take a minute or two to think through my move and assess all threats like I would in an OTB game. I had a good position and screwed it up.
The worst thing is, I ruined my chances to get that coveted McDonald's gift certificate!
oh and likesforests: good luck, I am sure Caissa will smile upon you for sacrificing with your tactics books :)
Ah, I hate it when I get sloppy. For me it occurs more OTB, and I play best in casual games (oddly enough).
This is why you should have just thrown all your games. Much easier to win the McD's gift certificate that way!
From June 11:
"This is just personal preference, but is there a way to make the reds frames around the last move a little more subtle? "
Done. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.
LEP: damn, I knew there had to be an easier way.
Glenn: I think that's a lot better, thanks!
