Playing a GM

I played two 3 0 blitz games on ICC tonight against GM Larry Christiansen who was taking on people in unrated odds blitz games. He started the games with only one rook, and of course proceeded to duly kick my ass. Boy that was exciting... It's truly amazing how much he has internalized all sorts of patterns, he moves lightning fast and executes all sorts of tactics effortlessly. So cool.

Yeah those GMs are good... After the North American Open last December in Vegas I met Nakamura and I decided to stay and watch him win the blitz tournament. He is fucking ridiculous. Just crushing GMs, every move comes instantly (there are some videos on youtube). One time he fell behind a pawn (yeah ONE time, it was a pretty big deal) and he was obviously very surprised, he took a deep breath, took off his watch and then he starts playing very quickly and soon (like 15 seconds later) the other GM is down a pawn and has to start thinking before he just got ran off the board. Very impressive stuff...

Nakamura is cool, he's supposed to be one of the best blitz players in the world right? I saw him on Playchess once, he was insanely fast...

I think he may be one of the best players in the world period, but he fools around sometimes. He won the Corsica Masters this year, which is a high-level rapid tournament (No Melody Amber though, one day we'll see how he really plays)
