Dream Team

This is a few days old, so most of you will probably have seen it by now but I'm just so excited about the news that Kasparov is now Magnus Carlsen's personal trainer. I mean how cool is that? The best player in the history of chess coaching the biggest talent out there. My two favorite players as a team, how friggin cool. Now there's no doubt in my mind that Magnus will be the next world champion.

I would have to agree. The next couple of years are going to be interesting.

We can dream ... but first i am gonna wait for the next tournament results of the young Carlsen before i say anything about this symbiose.

It promises to be awesome, but dont they have conflicking styles.

But it looks good Kasparov giving back some of what he got from his trainers.

Old footballers become managers, perhaps this is the way forward for old chess players.(in Kasparov's case not that old)

chess?: I hope they keep this mentoring relationship up for a few years, I think only then will it really reap rewards.

chesstiger: as they say, the proof is in the pudding... or something like that.

chessx: yes they do have different styles, but I don't know if they're necessarily conflicting - I'd say they might complement each other. In any case, I think just from the standpoint of discipline, openings preparation and experience, Kasparov can offer more to Carlsen than anybody else.
