Alekhine Gone Bad

Ok, I have to do something before LEP puts me on his infamous Zombie list. Hmm how about a mindless yet fun blitz game from last night. Ah, quality posting.

Nice game. It's always fun to chase the enemy king around the board when you are really short on time. Will I checkmate him or will I run out of time first!

Cool game man, this should keep you off the zombie list for another few weeks or so haha

17. Nxf6+ yes? The bishop is pinned.
again on move 18.

But you would have to avoid a line like 17 Nxf6+ Kf7 18. Ne4 Bb4+ 19. Nc3 Bxc3+ 20. Re8 pinning your Q to your K. But I think that is avoidable....

Well Played!

knightfork: thanks! I love king chases :) Btw, just added your blog to my sidebar.

rt solo: Hehe yup! I would love to post something more substantial but I just can't seem to find the time.

Glenn: Thanks! Yes, of course 17.Nxf6, not sure why I missed that :)

I was looking at same thing Glenn found on move 17. The other thing I looked at near the end was 31. Qf7+ forking the king and rook. He does get your bishop, but you're up the exchange. However since you're so close to mating at that point and his rook isn't doing anything, why bother?

Beware the Zombies!

Polly: thanks for the feedback! Yeah 31.Qf7+ is possible, but as you said - the rook wasn't going to help him anymore at that point :)
